While I don't especially like wearing hats, I really enjoyed this event.  Sometimes I'm nervous in crowds, but I had a lot of fun today.  We keep trying new things, going to new places and it has helped me be outgoing when meeting new people and pets.

This is a picture of everyone at the Easter Parade.  Sophie couldn't go because it was 90 degrees and she can't handle the heat or prolonged walking.  Our town's Easter parade is just people wearing Easter clothes and "parading" down the street.   It is a fun time for people and pets.  Also, my foster Mom from HART sent Sophie and I a nice Easter card.  Thanks Kim!

I made a new friend.

I'm feeling better.  My mouth doesn't hurt anymore.  I'm glad we took a "wait and see" approach.  The last thing that I need a an unneeded vet visit.  I hate that place.  In other news, my spring coat is coming in.  That means that my winter coat is getting spread about.  If you don't believe me, just go look in my bed.

The left side of my mouth hurts.  I scream when someone rubs it.  My LADY discovered this when she was washing my face yesterday.  In the past, screaming has been a helpful tool to make people stop touching me.  Not with these people, though.  I scream, and they still trim my nails.  I scream, and they still brush my teeth.  So today, my LADY rolled me in a towel, and looked inside my mouth.  I screamed louder than a elementary school fire alarm.  She didn't stop; she looked inside my mouth.  She didn't see anything unusual, so she said we are going to "monitor the situation" for a few days.  She's giving me a mouthwash left over from Sofie's teeth cleaning.  She can monitor me all that she wants, as long as she keeps her hands out of my mouth...

We visited Papa and Grammy again this week.  It was his birthday and the people celebrated with cupcakes.  We pups had Ritz crackers. Their house has a great fenced-in yard...and no one says anything when I sit on the couch!  Papa's resting up because his chemotherapy starts in a few weeks.  He was happy to get back home after his pancreatic surgery.  He is lucky that his cancer was caught early, even though we all know that there is nothing lucky about cancer.

If I could see cancer, I would bark at it harshly.

It's been just over a year since I was dumped.  This time last year, I was found wandering on the highway.  I was morbidly obese.   I couldn't hear from a bad ear infection and I had a bunch of rotten teeth.  I became a pound puppy, but no one wanted me.  It looked like my future was doggie death row.  But HART stepped in and gave me a foster Mom.  She helped me get exercise, trimmed my diet and got me physically fit. HART found me a forever home.  My dental problems and ear infection were fixed.  I trimmed off some more weight and I feel great now.  I am loved and I have a great family.  Just remember, that if things are terrible for you now, they might be very different twelve months from now.  Don't give up hope.  I'm glad I didn't.

We had a terrible scare.  I ate a roach bait.  My LADY tried to hide them from me under the sinks.  What she didn't know was that they contain an attractant that smells like a tasty treat.  While she was out gardening, I snuck under the sink and ate the roach poison.  She called animal poison control, but it cost $65 per call so she researched it online instead.  She learned that the active ingredient wasn't harmful, unless I ate a bunch of them.  The actual hazard was in ingesting the plastic case. I think I spit out all of the plastic parts, but she is still worried about my "incident".  So make sure you keep these products away from your pets, because they smell tasty.

NOTE from the LADY: PS, we don't have roaches. OK, I lied.  We had one little wood roach.  We stepped on him, and we don't want any of his friends to drop by looking for him.

The Tall Man's father, Papa, has been battling a pancreatic tumor.  I spent a few days with him before he went to the hospital to have it taken out.  Papa is feeling poorly, but is doing great considering he just had a ten hour surgery and had his craw all moved around and sewn back together.  We will get his test results back soon to see if his cancer has spread to other parts.  I just returned back home.  I've been staying with my other grandparents while The LADY and The TALL MAN were away at the hospital.  Sofie's tail is doing great. We are still waiting for the TALL MAN to come back home, too.   We all miss him.

Sorry for not updating sooner.  We had a family emergency, and left town for a while.  We have been checking on a family member who's been sick.  So back to Sofie.  Her bandage was removed, and her broken tail is fine.  She's very dainty, and from time to time, has broken toes and ribs and such before.  It always took a long time for things to heal, so we are all very happy to see a swift tail recovery.  She flings that tail around like a ceiling fan on high. I've tried to explain to just wag it from three o'clock to nine o'clock.  Turns out, she can't tell time.

...is Sofie's big day.  We'll take her bandage off her broken tail and see if it's doing ok.
